Welcome

“We drew our heavy revolvers — all at once there were revolvers in the dream — and joyously put the gods to death.”

–Jorge Luis Borges, “Ragnarok”

Dark Blue Monstropolis is an ongoing sci-fi series in a shared universe which is created and maintained by John Robinson. This site and its contents are available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. In a nutshell, you are welcome to use the stuff you find here to create your own stories rooted in the DBM Universe as long as you slap the same license on it and don’t try to make any money off of it.

Anyone is welcome to write their own DBM stories. There is no “bible” for the universe, as such a document would inevitably give away some of the surprises I have in store for my own narrative. If I like your story, I may give you space to play it out on this site. If I like your story and it doesn’t interfere with the events, characters and actions in my story, I may declare it as canon, which means your stuff will be officially part of the DBM Universe. Stories that aren’t declared canon are just considered to be alternate versions of the DBM Universe, for those of you who find such demarcations important. The best way to find out what you have to work with in the DBM Universe is to read the stories that are online thus far. I will answer whatever questions I can but you will forgive me if I play my cards close to the vest.

If you have not read the story thus far, it’s best to start here. Please be aware that if DBM were made into a film, it would no doubt be rated R for, among other such tidbits, gobs of violence and a gleeful disdain for civilized language.

If you have been here before, the check the “Threnody” sections on the right there if you need to catch up.

HTQ4′s story, “Ginger Gets a New Life,” is accessible by hitting the “Ginger” categories there on the right.

Any questions, give me a ping at widgett@onetusk.com.
