Dark Blue Monstropolis

Chapter One

The song that Argo mixes up and uses later in the chapter combines the theme from Peter Gunn with “Where’s Your Head At” by Basement Jaxx. He is unwittingly recreating a mash-up by 2 Many DJs.

“Slow Angel” is a cover of a mash-up created by Smash from Kylie Minogue’s “Slow” and Massive Attack’s “Angel.” If you’re lucky, you can find it on his site here. (Note: Smash was gone for a while, but now he’s back…this is excellent news. His stuff is some of the best mashups available.)

Bailey is brilliant and understands technology much better than I. We figured out HeavyTech over lunch. Hopefully I can return the favor if he finishes that novel he’s writing and letting me collaborate on. It’s going to rock balls once it’s done. Pester him about it, would you?

Chapter Two

Special thanks again to Bailey for being a sounding board to make sure I’m not fucking up something technologically that I’m not supposed to be fucking up.

Also, “Open 5AM” is taken directly from the sign at the Internet Cafe in Myrtle Beach, SC, where I wrote that section. A banner said they were open twenty-four hours while the neon sign said they were open at five. I named the song in honor of their confusion. But hey, they had Jolt and Bawls in glass bottles and the connection rate was cheap. Rock on with their bad selves.

Chapter Three

Siege was invaluable in making sure I got the right kind of weapon to be Betty. I needed something that could really put a hurting on someone from a large distance and he filled the prescription.
